Quiz Live is perfect for an hour-long, in-class competition. But if you want something bigger — a "reading week" or a "math month," with a public leaderboard and prizes at the end — you need a different format: Contests.
How a contest differs from a league
Weekly leagues are automatic and continuous, with small groups. A contest is a themed competition, with a period defined by the administrator (a week, a month) and a leaderboard calculated on XP earned exactly during that period — useful for special events, not daily routine.
How the leaderboard is calculated
Every student earns XP by playing normal activities during the contest period. The public leaderboard automatically shows who's in front, updated live — students can check their position anytime, which keeps interest alive throughout the contest.
Setting up a contest from admin
The dedicated contests panel lets you set a name, a start date, and an end date. Once active, a banner automatically appears for students, inviting them to join with a link to the leaderboard.
Contest ideas that work
- Review week — before an exam, whoever earns the most XP from review activities wins
- Reading challenge — during a StoryBook read across chapters, a leaderboard for who finishes first with a high score on the check-in questions
Prizes are up to you — from a simple certificate to bonus points on a test. The platform handles tracking and the live leaderboard; motivating students concretely stays, as usual, with the teacher.
